Sudanese Muslim officials allow a forced takeover of a Christian school, watch as a Muslim mob abuses Christian women there, and ignore the resultant stabbing death of a Church leader trying to defend them.

“Several men from the nearby Bahri Evangelical Church rushed to the church to try and protect the women. The armed men attacked them, and two church members were stabbed.”

Christians in Omdurman, a city across the Nile River from Khartoum, know that in a dispute involving a non-Muslim versus a Muslim, the government seems to always side with the Muslim.

On April 3, a Muslim mob gathered at the Evangelical School of Sudan in Omdurman, waited for the police to arrest all the Christian men present, and then began to beat and abuse the remaining Christian women.

According to Middle East Concern, Younan Abdullah and several other men from a nearby church came to the aid of the women. Members of the mob stabbed Younan, who later died of his injuries. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

Although some police officers were present during this altercation, they did nothing to intervene and did not help Younan after he was stabbed. The conflict arose in the first place because a Muslim group, with the blessing of the government, is trying to take over the Christian school.

Please pray for the family of martyred Younan to be comforted now in the steadfast love of the Father. Pray also for the Christian church and school members to be filled with His spirit of power as they look to God for provision and protection from the encroaching Muslim group.
