While many in the west see the dark shadow of Islam in the ongoing story of Iran, God is faithfully working there to free many Muslims from spiritual bondage and bring them to Himself.
There are an increasing number of stories emerging from Iran of Muslims giving their lives to Jesus — even as the Church in Iran faces growing threats from the anti-Christian, Islamic government! Compared with reports from missionaries 100 years ago which detailed a dry season for evangelistic efforts, we see evidences today of thousands believing the Gospel, turning from Islam, and being saved through faith in Christ in Iran — Praise God!
Smyrna partners with Elam Ministries to provide Persian-language Bibles and New Testaments, pastoral training for Iranian house church pastors, and assistance for the families of imprisoned house church pastors and other Christians in Iran.
According to the World Watch List’s monitoring in 2018, at least 52 Christians have been arrested and punished with particularly long prison sentences. In total at least 90 are imprisoned for their faith in Iran today. May we continue to “remember those in prison as if we were together with them and those who are mistreated as if we ourselves were suffering.” (Hebrews 13:3)
