We are so very grateful for your continued prayer and care for His Church and His children suffering at the hand of Islam.
This year’s annual Kids’ Camp in West Africa, organized by our national partner ministry and Pastor Mbarra, was yet another demonstration of our Heavenly Father’s desire that each person come to a saving personal relationship with Him through Christ Jesus. “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
Pastor Mbarra sends an “elephant-sized” thank you to all friends of Smyrna who have prayed and contributed generously to fund the children’s outreach programs and camps in West Africa. We praise God that this August, 417 children attended the Bible camp and 159 trusted Christ as their Lord and Savior!
Praise God for His Holy Spirit’s work in opening blind eyes to see, healing wounded hearts to receive His redeeming love, and empowering timid children with the courage of a mighty warrior through the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. Pray for these new, young believers in Christ to receive the Bible-saturated instruction and training in righteousness necessary for their spiritual growth and maturity. (II Timothy 3:16)
Please pray against any harmful plans and schemes of the Enemy who will surely attempt to discourage and destroy their faith in the Son of God. In this region of West Africa the population is nearly 95% Muslim, and converts there are forced to confront our spiritual battle against the forces of darkness head-on.
Many will face ridicule and opposition from their Muslim friends, neighbors, and, most often, from their own unsaved families. Pray that the truth of Romans 8, that there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, will be firmly wrapped around their hearts, and stored up in their minds!
We are fervently praying for His sovereign grace to shine brightly in His children, whom He has called by name. Although we may “pass through the waters, the rivers, or the fire” (Isaiah 43:2), His promise to us remains the same: He will be there, and we are His.
Lastly, please consider a gift to Smyrna’s Children of the World fund to support the continued ministry to children in nations under Islamic dominance. “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.” (Matthew 25:40)
