The radical Islamic government of Sudan under Muslim President Omar al-Bashir continues its war against Christians, fulfilling al-Bashir’s long-standing threat to non-Muslims that “Nothing will preserve your rights except for Islamic sharia.”

As a result of this brutal persecution, many Christians have fled to seek refuge in South Sudan. All the while, the jihad against predominantly Christian areas in Sudan presses on. Both believers and church properties are targeted. Eyewitness reports are rampant about bulldozed churches, confiscation of church property, and other violations of the rule of law as Sudan accelerates its establishment of a one-religion state.

The destruction has not only taken its toll in human lives directly, but has also undermined the nation’s infrastructure which is contributing to severe poverty, famine and drought.

For over two decades, Smyrna has partnered with Persecution Project Foundation (PPF) whose work includes drilling and repairing hundreds of wells and providing relief and medical supplies in Sudan and South Sudan. Pray for Sudan and South Sudan: that God’s plan for His Church in these war-torn countries would come to fruition and bring Him glory.

“I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33

2/16 — Pray for a turning of the tide of Islam in Sudan, for the salvation of President al-Bashir, and for freedom of religion for the people of Sudan.

2/17 — Pray for over 60 church leaders facing charges in Sudan for refusing to simply hand over their churches for government seizure. Pray for God’s justice to prevail.

2/18 — Pray that Sudanese Christians would put on the gospel shoes of peace and spread the good news of Jesus Christ while exhibiting God’s peace which passes all understanding and guards their hearts from the Enemy.

2/19 — Pray for an end to Sudanese President Bashir’s persecution and violence against the Christians of Sudan. Pray that authorities and the police will act justly and intervene on behalf of persecuted Christians.

2/20 — Pray for the Holy Spirit to convict the hearts of members of the oppressive Islamic regime in Sudan and cause them to pursue justice and liberty in their country.

2/21 — Praise God that His Church grows instead of shrinks under persecution. Pray for the growth of the church in Sudan. Pray for safe places for Christians to meet for worship and fellowship when they are forced out of their church buildings and homes.
