The system of Islam that spiritually enslaves its adherents often forces political and economic bondage upon Christians living in Muslim-dominated countries.

A case in point is Pakistan. Christians in Pakistan make up less than 2 percent of the population and are treated as second class citizens. As one example, according to data collected by World Watch Monitor, Christians account for 80% of the sewage and street cleaning workforce — a job which often puts them directly in danger. At the end of May two Christians were killed by leaked toxic gases from opening a clogged sewage line without protective gear.

Believers in Pakistan cannot even rely on the police to protect them. The Pakistani police have been known to beat, torture and murder members of Christian families. They threaten to file false charges against Christians to force them to pay their way out of imprisonment, and if they do not comply, they are silenced. On May 29th a 24-year old Christian man, Waqas Masih, was beaten to death by police after his family didn’t pay for false charges to be dropped.

Christians in Pakistan are surrounded by a culture that hates the Cross of Christ, and many do not have access to Scripture or the ability to read the Bible for themselves. We must pray for perseverance and reliance on the Lord of angel armies to protect and sustain the Church in Pakistan.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and
my portion forever.” — Psalm 73:26

7/9 — Ask God to enable Christians in Pakistan to avoid bitterness and rest in the joy of their salvation.

7/10 — Ask the Holy Spirit to move in a mighty way across this nation and lead great numbers to repentance and faith.

7/11 — Pray for the unity of the Body of Christ in Pakistan.

7/12 — Pray for the witness of Pakistani believers to light the way for their persecutors to repent of their sin and receive Christ as their Savior.

7/13 — Pray for many dispirited and discontented Muslims in Pakistan to entrust their lives to Jesus. Pray that the abuse of their government opens their eyes to Islam’s true nature.

7/14 — Pray for the growth and protection of the Body of Christ in Pakistan, and for believers around the globe to faithfully intercede on their behalf.

7/15 — Pray for the Pakistani Church to respond to injustice with wisdom freely given from the Lord by faith.
